Inter Milan are the pacesetters in the title race and are closing in on a first league title in over a decade but they found it hard tobreak down stubborn Cagliari until the intervention of Matteo Darmian. The Ex-Manchester United and Torino player scored from close range with 13 minutes left on the clock after good work from AchrafHakimi and RomeluLukaku.

Matteo Darmianscored a big goal to hand Inter Milan three crucial points in the title race. His goal ensured that Inter Milan took their winning run to 11 games. Darmian was on from start but didn’t finish that Cagliari game. The Italian international was subbed off with six minutes left on the clock with compatriot Daniele D’Ambrosio coming on in his place.

Darmian is a versatile defender that can play as a fullback or as centre back. He uses both his left and right foot thus giving him advantage as a fullback. The former Red Devil can play effectively as a right-back or as a left-back.

His lone goal against Cagliari took Inter Milan 11 points clear at the top of the table but that advantage has since been cut to nine points by city rivals AC Milan after the last set of games at the weekend. Inter were unable to continue their winning run when they went to face Napoli in Naples and that gave Milan the opportunity to close the gap by two points.

Inter were involved in a 1-1 draw at Napoli. The Nerazzuri had to even come from behind to earn a point after going behind in the first half when goalkeeper Samir Handanovic put through his own net with nine minutes left before the interval. Christian Eriksen then scored for Inter in the second half to secure a point. On their part, Milan beat Genoa 2-1 at home in their own game. The win over Genoa ensured that the Rossoneri close the gap on Inter Milan.
